The Family Beaumont Cheshire Countryside We are a family based in Cheshire UK, we have three German Shepherd dogs and our white female had her second litter on 03/01/2008. She had 7 puppies in total, one was born small and we thought she was just the runt of the litter. We made sure she got to drink first from mum everytime, but we noticed within a day that she was not getting the round belly like her littermates and seemed hungry at all time. On the second day a visit to the vet confirmed she had a fairly large full length cleft palate. We started to feed her ourselves with a syringe and teet every 2 hours around the clock. We decided to raise her although there was not much support from our Vet, but we would not have put her to sleep as she was a strong little fighter and we wanted to help her the best we could. As we write this Grace is now 6 weeks old, weighs nearly 2kg and can eat dry food and drink water by herself. We decided to create this website about her to give support to whoever is out there trying to save a cleft puppy. I hope her story can be some encouragment for those caring owners and their little fighter. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
